Under your wings

It's never been a day since I last spent time with you. I sat by your side all day. I talked to you. It didn't matter if you couldn’t get the words out; as long as I knew you were responding, I held onto your hand. When we were about to leave, saying we would see you tomorrow, the nurse came in to check on you. She said you were about to take your last two breaths. There were my mom, my brother, your favorite nephew, and a couple of your cousins in the room, along with me. I’m so thankful that God allowed me to see those last moments with you. You always said you wanted to go before your family went, and you said you would find it hard to see us go before you. I remember you told me to look after your mom, your brother Sharell, and your Uncle Tony. When it gets hard, call on Jesus' name; we will be here for you. Love, your oldest granddaughter, Twana
